ANNUAL SHOW 2018

This year’s Group Show was held at the Monmouthshire County Show, on an incredibly hot Saturday on 7th July 2018. Six breeders showed their animals, with classes of up to 8 sheep in each class. Jason Whybrow’s two horned ram was selected as Show Champion by our judge Sue Taylor, with Carol Kempson’s shearling ewe as Reserve.

Hillary Hanson won the Sheelagh Holmes Cufflinks for the most primitive animal and John Hedges the Alastair Dymond Cup for Diversity.

The Group involved the public in judging the Craft Competition, won by Sue Taylor with a knitted Manx Loaghtan four-horned sheep, the Photographic Competition, won by Carol Kempson’s action photo, and the Cutest Lamb competition, in which children who made a choice of their favourite lamb were given a Manx Loaghtan badge.

A marquee was provided for the Group, enabling a “Manx Market Place” to be held, Jayne Drinkwater, Sue Taylor and the Lewis’ being able to display and sell their woollen products. During the afternoon we had a fifteen minute slot in the Monmouth Show Countryside Arena, when Francine Burns gave a commentary on our animals as they paraded and on the breed generally.

Particular thanks goes to the Monmouthshire Show organisers whose positive support made the event especially enjoyable.
